Proceeds from Pensacola Dragon Boat Festival are for the benefit of Gulf Cost Kid’s House and Junior Achievement of Northwest Florida.
Gulf Coast Kid’s House is a children’s advocacy center serving Escambia County. As a children’s advocacy center, we combine all of the professionals and resources needed for the intervention, investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases under one child-friendly facility. Child victims and their families also receive mental health counseling at our center. The goal of Gulf Coast Kid’s House is to form a more collaborative response to child abuse cases so that we can improve case outcomes and minimize trauma to the children and families we serve.
Junior Achievement of Northwest Florida partners with business people who volunteer their time in our local schools. Using a nationally-developed curriculum and hands-on experience, they help young people understand the economics of life. Junior Achievement programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.
The Opening Ceremony will be held on October 10th, 2020 at the Bayview Park at 8AM. Races are to start at 9AM and finish at 5PM Awards Ceremony will take place immediately after the last race. Each team will race in three (3) heats. The course is 250 meters long. Each Team will have 60-90 minutes in between races. The 1st heat start at 9:00 AM on October 10th. The championship race will be held approximately at 4PM.
The registration fee for each corporate team is $2,500 and $1,500 for non-profit team. A 10% discount is available if registered prior to July 31, 2020. Teams can pay an initial payment of $500 by going online at https://pensacoladragonboatfestival.com/team-registration. Teams through their own competitive fundraising efforts can pay the balance of their Registration Fee at http://pdbf2020.causevox.com/. All fees must be paid in full by the Captain’s Meeting at the Pensacola Ruby Slipper Café at 509 S. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL which is scheduled for Thursday, 1st of October 2020.
Each Team must have 20 paddlers with minimum of 8 woman and a drummer. Three seconds will be added to the Team’s race time if there is less than 8 woman on a team. We recommend having 4 alternates as paddlers. If you don’t have enough members we can assign some individuals paddlers to your team.
Your team will be assigned a spot in our Athlete’s Village. Bring a tent, lawn chairs, coolers and any supplies you may need. Alcohol is allowed but controlled. No alcohol allowed on staging and loading dock. There will be food truck area. Enjoy the different types of food offered by our food Vendors. NE Pensacola Sertoma will offer for sale beer, water and Dragon Juice.
Dragon boat, paddles, life vests, boats, drums, and steerspersons will be provided to each team at practice and on the day of the race. Teams that bring their own equipment must use the regulation equipment mandated by the International Dragon Boat Federation.
Registration for a team of 20 paddlers, drummer and plus alternates include:
• A full day of team-building fun, on and off the water.
• Equipment supplied (paddles, life jackets, dragon boat vessel — properties of the Dragon boat company.
• On-site paddle training and safety review from Dragon Boat Company before the race.
• Participation in three or more races.
• Each team receives a 10’x10’ tent space in the Athlete’s Village at Bayview Park
• Qualified experienced steerer from the Dragon boat company
• And to the fun-loving winners — awards!

Each team will have the opportunity to have (2) Two Practices – (1) One Hour per Session with a professional steers person. Scheduling will be first come, first served. Please schedule with the team. Beginning on Monday October 5th at 4PM and 8AM – 6PM Tuesday – Friday.
Food vendors and beer will be available for sale. No alcohol may be brought in to the Athlete’s Village.
Teams should decide on a “Team Theme” which would include team costumes and tent decorations.
Teams are encouraged to help in the fundraising on behalf of Gulf Coast Kid’s House and Junior Achievement of Northwest Florida. There is room for 48 teams in this year race. To guarantee a spot for the 2020 Festival, an initial Registration Fee of $500 is required. Balance due by Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Failure to pay the full registration fee and provide complete liability waiver by all team members will result in a forfeiture of all previously paid fees.
